Premier Nursing Services provides exemplary service to our nurses. We have been in business since 1986, and our reputation amongst all our client facilities is one of honor, integrity and honesty. Our rates are very competitive. We are the first to be called when hospitals have staffing needs, thus ensuring an abundance and variety of shifts for our nurses. We have over 100 active local contracts in Southern California. We pay our nurses on time and allow for daily pay advances. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Premier Nursing Services stands by its nurses and strives to protect their interests.

Will working for a nursing service look good on my résumé?

Yes! You ability to be able to adapt to the environment of a variety of hospitals, as a per diem nurse, demonstrates your dedication to your profession as well as your flexibility with your clinical practice. Nurse managers and hospital human resources professionals are cognizant of the Nursing Service Industry and appreciate the capability of nurses who work for nursing services. We staff Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Licensed Psychiatric Technicians and Certified Nurse Assistants.

What type of hospitals can I work at?

You can choose to work in many different types of hospital settings, ranging from prestigious teaching institutions to small, rural facilities. They all use per diem and travel nurses. If you are used to working at small hospitals and prefer to continue to work at similar sized facilities, Premier Nursing Services can accommodate your preference. On the other hand, if you want to expand your horizons and try other hospital settings, we can make arrangements for this, too.

What per diem shifts are available?


Is my information secure?

Premier Nursing Services follows all HIPAA requirements and JACHO guidelines. Our nurses’ employment files are kept in locked filing cabinets in a secured room in one of the elite buildings in Long Beach with 24 hour security personnel in the premises. The files can only be accessed by authorized personnel.

Am I required to work a certain number of shifts to be employed by Premier Nursing Services?

No. You are your own boss. You set your own schedule. You choose the hospitals where you want to work and the shifts that you prefer. Although, we encourage our nurses to work full time with us, if possible.

How long do I have to wait before I can start working?

We process new applicants’ files the same day that we receive them. The following are the items that are subject to verification prior to the hiring process and the acceptance of the nurse’s application:

  • Criminal background Check.
  • Online License verification/ California state BRN and any other out of state nursing license.
  • Office of Inspector general ( OIG) verification
  • Previous and current employment references verification
  • Work eligibility in the USA . I-9 form must be completed
  • Online Social security verification
  • E- Verify
  • Nurses must pass a 12 panel Drug Screening
  • A completed W-4 form
  • Employment eligibility is based on the clearance of the above verification and testing.

What qualities will help me become a successful nurse?

Flexibility, a positive outlook, excellent clinical skills and an eagerness to enjoy a new adventure. You need to be open to change and a quick learner. Good communication skills are also important in this exciting nursing field.

Would it be OK for me to join your agency if I already work for other nursing agencies?

Yes. As long as you efficiently manage your schedule among the nursing agencies that you work for. We would like to avoid any overlapping schedules that may create booking issues and confusion for us and for the hospitals.

Does your agency hire new graduates?

No. Premier Nursing Services hires nurses with at least 2 years of recent acute hospital experience.

Do you pay a higher rate if I was assigned to be a charge nurse?

We follow the hospital pay rates. You will get paid a higher rate for a charge nurse assignment if the hospital where you worked pays a higher rate for a charge nurse assignment.

Do you pay a higher rate on holidays?

Premier Nursing Services pays a higher rate on recognized holidays. The duration of the holiday pay depends on the facility protocol. The recognized Holidays are:

  • New Year
  • Independence Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Do you Hire Independent contractors?

No, all of Premier Nursing Services’ staff must fill out a W-4 form.
